## What is in 8.1

The session works through each of these in the software, using a live model rather than slides.

#### Steady state thermal analysis

The steady state solver solves the coupled flow and thermal equations, with four heat transfer models per pipe element: adiabatic, fluid, soil and custom. Thermal analyses require a separate licence option.

#### Non-Newtonian liquids and drag reducing agents

Four viscosity models, Newton, Power Law, Bingham Plastic and Herschel-Bulkley, supported in every analysis type, with a curve fit window to set the parameters from measurement data.

#### Element limits and limit alerts

Pressure, flow rate and flow velocity limits on pipe elements, deluge nozzles and sprinklers, checked against the results and listed in the new "Limit Alerts" report.

#### Batch plot generator

A series of similar plots across selected cases, data sets, nodes, elements and groups, saved as individual images or as one HTML or PDF document.

#### Acoustic induced vibration assessment

AIV assessments run from the steady state analysis to the Energy Institute or NORSOK guidelines, with an "Acoustic Fatigue Assessment" report and new sound power level and likelihood of failure data sets.

#### Extended pump model

Five operating modes including startup and controlled, an NPSHR curve with a warning when the available NPSH drops below it, and NPSHA as a data set and in the steady state solution report.

#### Gas flow through inline restrictions

Density through valves and orifice plates is no longer assumed constant, and sub-critical and critical flow are both accounted for, which also improves the AIV assessment.

#### Model viewer and reporting

Results as textual labels and captions in the viewer, element and node annotations, element groups shown as colours, and two reports for flow-dependent transient events.

Also in this release: the tank and tube rupture elements extended, mass flow boundary conditions, templates in the components database, controllers connected to flow boundary conditions, and restraint forces and moments in combined flow and structural analyses.
